Balancing Chemical Equations - Substitution Method

Hello,

This post introduces a substitution method which utilizes one of the "thumb-rules" from my last post.  The method is demonstrated using a slide presentation (available below).  The viewer of the presentation has two options; press the "play" button or use the "next" button.  The "play" button makes better use of the built-in animations, but the "next" button allows more control.  The presentation clearly shows how polyatomic ions can be temporarily replaced with capital letters to produce an equation appearing to contain only binary ionic formulas.

If the slide show stops, you can click the "play" or "next" button to advance the slides.

That's all for this post.  Enjoy the presentation!

Have a good one!
